I took this photo when I finally called it a day. The glowing windows, colorful sky, and freshly remodeled building made me reflect on how my vision for this space has gradually transformed into reality. It made me excited for the next chapter of 116 Manitoba St. and all the possibilities ahead for Spicer Hearing.Status Update
✅ Converted a 119-year old bank vault into an office (no, they didn’t leave me any gold bars ☹)
✅ Transformed a hair salon into a state-of-the art audiology testing station
✅ Hung a picture of ear anatomy on the wall (this makes things “official,” right?)
✅ Made pretty logo designs (much more fun than registering a business name and publishing it in the paper)
✅ Created exciting website features that will allow me to demo hearing aids online (no peeking just yet)
In Progress
☐ Installing enough software to make me question my life choices
☐ Legal stuff (forms, HIPAA, and ADA, oh my!)
☐ Partnering with hearing aid manufacturers (I haven’t learned the secret handshakes just yet)
☐ Figuring out banking, pricing, taxes, and other stuff no one teaches you in grad school
☐ Counseling pieces of equipment to play nicely with each other
While I don’t have an “open date” just yet, I'm hoping to begin hearing evaluations sometime this summer. Hearing aid fittings, adjustments, repairs, and other services will be added gradually as I finish behind-the-scenes details and complete manufacturer onboarding.
